When someone truly knows how to connect on all levels with others, and shows it, Chadwick Boseman.

Gone too soon at age 43, after fighting a four year battle with Colon cancer that most everyone around him knew nothing about. Ok, so I don’t usually get too emotional or attached to movie stars and their life stories, so why does this one really touch home? After watching the press footage of him surprising fans and visiting terminally ill children, all while keeping his own cancer to himself. That’s unheard of! He really got out there with everyone showing he cared, showing how strong his faith must have been through actions for others, even with his own medical condition at such a severe level.

After watching his interview with Willie Geist, on the cbs “Sunday Today” morning show, it hit me why Chadwick’s life story seemed to grab at my heart. He was very real, vulnerable, and his eyes seemed to radiate kindness and love in the ways he talked about his past, his friends, and his mentors along the way in his career.

When asked about “living his true purpose” at the NAACP Image Awards, his reply was, “….Purpose is not related to career or career. It’s related to what God put inside you that you’re supposed to give to the world.” (Revolt, 7 inspirational Chadwick Boseman quotes to motivate you in your life and purpose, by Jasmine Grant, 9/2/2020).

There’s only been one other time that I was really shocked when a Hollywood star passed away, and that was Robin Williams. I’m saving that story for another time. These stories are real, even though we feel so disconnected a lot of the time. My personal work with the local Cancer Center, and then my mom passing with lymphoma after one year of being diagnosed are constant reminders for me about how quickly your life path can change. Cancer touches everyone.

Real loving emotions, positive feelings, and real happiness seem farther away right now with the pandemic and the racial battles going on. Today I’m going to educate myself more by staying on top of my own medical appointments, and letting a bit more of my heart out there again. It feels good to feel real, raw emotions; and it’s a reminder that every day is truly a gift. Cliché, but wow, very true!

Live, laugh, love everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by. 💜✨
