It’s so easy to follow trends,….clothes, hair styles, sayings, types of homes, musical favorites. Amazingly enough, some of us aren’t hard wired to care much about trending styles, and apparently, I’ve always been one of these types.
In fact, one of my old school friends always comes to mind when I think about this topic. Something she said back in our early 20s that has stuck with me. She confidently noted that she actually prefers to go the opposite direction of the current trend.
Confidence hasn’t always been a strong suit for me, but I’m definitely working on it. I loved what my friend said and how honestly she said it. Truth be told, that genuine self is one of the many reasons we’re still good friends, 30 years later.
I’m a trend opposer too!
Trends don’t last! And something really cool, if you hang on to that trendy thing you do own, I promise it’ll be back in style in 10-20 years. I’m voting for the classics, the jean jacket, a good sense of humor, and a genuine personality.
Classics will always be around!
