trees near body of water

Today I’m thankful for my counseling sessions that I’ve been going to for almost four years now. Knowing how much I value and respect nature, this speech was shared with me yesterday. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it!

Thankfully, I grew up in a family that passed on their love of gardening and the outdoors overall. One of my favorite childhood memories is walking with my grandpa, at about age 5, through the woods in Pennsylvania. He patiently answered all my questions and continued on to tell me the name of every tree we passed. One big roar from down below and he calmly picked me up saying, “time to go.” Turns out it was a black bear crashing through the trees.

For a simple and profound perspective on how important nature is to us, reading through Native American quotes, from various tribes, is always so enlightening. I recently watched the documentary on Chief Joseph, wow,….what a story! There’s so many inspiring, educational, and sad tales out there that we just never learned in our American history classes. Knowledge is most definitely the most powerful resource we have out there.
