So, my solution to the ever-increasing prices of gas?

(disclaimer ~ I’m not discounting the hard financial times here, this is more of a reference to our social activities, not those who travel for work, etc.)

I revert to my childhood frame of mind when my little family just didn’t have extra money. We shopped for groceries on Friday nights, mom holding a calculator and a strictly followed list. Our activities included public libraries, local parks, walks around the neighborhood, and of course reading all those books from the library trip.

Honestly, I did find myself thinking about how to manage my current budget yesterday with the rising costs of gas. I haven’t felt any stress about this though. Instead, my mind goes right to the possible free activities and local events, the books on my “to read” list, an extra walk with the dog, riding bikes,…

Today, I’m thankful that the rise and fall of a nations gas price situation really isn’t a stressful situation for me. A comforting way to find peace is to look for the alternatives; and there are a lot of them.

This is a classic lesson about staying flexible, sacrificing, and really appreciating the small things in life.
