I know I can’t singlehandedly repair all the deep damage our ancestors have done to one another,….but I can do my part!
My family line goes back to migrating to the US in the 1600s. I’ve found a family member in every documented war here. A year ago I was proud, proud and just plain happy to find this documented history. Today I’m feeling more responsible than ever. Responsible to make a positive difference, even in my own small corner of the world.
I may not be a great Orator, destined for history making speeches to awe admiring crowds, but God has gifted me with the love of writing. So it’s my responsibility to use what gifts I have been given!
Before my country officially goes to the voting polls, (a lot of us have already voted early), before the final count is in, I’m making a conscious decision to spend the rest of my life fighting for kindness, true and fair justice, and actually handing over all fears/concerns/worries to God. It’s not my calling to be God, but it is my job to do his work.
Matthew 22:34-40, King James Version.
But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
“Master, which is the great commandment in the law?”
Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord the God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
