I know we all have deep love and respect for at least a few people in our lives. At the very top for me has to be my mom. It’s hard to explain her beauty in a few words, so this story will be an ongoing work in progress.
It’s been over 20 years since her early death from cancer. She was an RN who dearly loved her patients.
Unfortunately she said, “Nurses make the worst patients”, and this ended up being too true in her case. She waited way too long before getting tested for her symptoms and passed away in her early 50’s from a very curable cancer. My first child was only six months old.
Briefly, I’ll say that she was the oldest of six, raised in a very strict and conservative Wesleyan Holiness church. Her dad, my grandpa, was a pastor with a heart the size of which I’ve never known or seen before.
I’m finally ready to sort through her things, and at the top of the priority list is the huge envelope simply marked “Letters”. Before texting days, mom was a pro letter writer. I’m sorting them by date order and putting them in protective sheets for now. Next will be to start reading them.
I found a true treasure that I’d like to share here. Keep in mind, my mom was the purest soul I’ve ever known.
She only knew to treat everyone with love, no matter what. She refused to be conformed, in any way, by what she called “worldly ways.”
What a gift she was!!! I’ll Love her always and forever, and am thrilled to have her handwritten letters to read back through now.
Live, Laugh, Love with everything you’ve got while you still can! 💜✨ Thank you so much for stopping by. I truly appreciate and value you all here.
Your mom sounded like a loving, kindhearted woman. Sorry for your loss. 💕
Thank you so much for your thoughts here. ❤️ I’ve never known anyone her. It’s almost impossible to even find the right words to describe her and the impact she had on so many of us.
